As more of the enemy finds a firing arc for their guns with the longest range, the dull thunder of more cannons add themselves to the fight. The distance is closing, and ideal range from broadsides is closing by the minute. Voices are lost with a cannon eruption and the acrid smell of powder fills the air. Skipping cannonballs careen past vessels, some bouncing clear past the rail and beheading height, some clipping parts of ships. The sound it makes is an eerie mix of wet slaps and murderous whistling.
The parade of vessels from the religious fleet isn't slowing as it tries to sweep past the wall of ships that try to match. It's certain that the enemy will envelop both sides as there is no time to match the far right side where Merri's vessels peeled off.
In short, the ~good guys~ are at a disadvantage as the mass of ships and arks are turning in a long curl rather than splitting to curl against how the enemy fleet is parting.
