Why is Ark #2 such a bother? Is it just everyone loves a zoo and nursery rolled up into one? The Half-Zambs that migrated to it before the Pattern-Pushers shifted ice to water are now marooned. Ruby has insisted that she stay on the Beast and continue shadow-walking the fleet, or at least be ready to do something weird with the Pattern should a problem arise. Anyone else that wants to pay visit to Captain Shih and her panting party of survivors is more than welcome to check in on them..
Those that make the ship-to-ship journey to the massive vessel are most likely met by anxious looks from regular crew members. It isn't hard to get an update of where the small cluster of Frozen refugees has secluded themselves: Down below. Whomever was a smarty pants that suggested salvaging some of that ice from the last realm gets an extra ration of rum. Captain Shih and her people are basking like Galapagos lizards on them, making their chests go deeply concave as they breath so quickly. This area of the hold usually has animals that need private time, so there is a comfortable buffer between the guests and the Ark animals. Scorch marks and damage from where that formidable Figurehead from an earlier realm are still in evidence.
