Of ice and momentum - Part One

The day dawns upon the attempt to escape the icey quagmire. Grooves have been gouged through interesting and mundane means. After careful measuring of course. Outriggers that survived the failed fishing attempt have been absconded with by persons of interest no doubt. The unuseable wreckage has been used as fuel to keep people from freezing to death. Ridiculous amounts of chain have been employed to connect lead ships with those that are to follow in a unified fashion. The lead ships have had their masts reinforced, and Ruby's ship has swapped in some stormsilk for extra resilience.
The five long trenches in the ice that travel to the horizon await the hulls to craddle in their frigid causeways. There seems to be enough rope tied to the lead ships that one could knot a rope ladder to the stars. Ruby is making to move onto the ice and take up one of those ropes. Hark! Hark all ye that are swole, for here is the opportunity for feats of strength.
